Oshawa Real Estate
Oshawa’s motto is “Prepare to be Amazed” and that is true in many aspects. This city that sits about 30 minutes outside of Toronto boasts many features associated with larger cities but retains a small town feel. The General Motors Centre hosts sports events and concerts, but provides a more intimate experience due to its smaller seating capacity. The Oshawa Generals are a force to be reckoned with in the Ontario Hockey League and won the Memorial Cup in 2015. Many of its players are local high school students, who you can see out and about in the city. Oshawa also features a growing shopping centre. The Oshawa Centre is currently expanding and will be even larger than Vaughan Mills once complete. In summary, Oshawa is an exciting place to be right now.
It is a great town for students as it is home to Durham College, University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) and a Trent University satellite campus. It also includes a variety of elementary and secondary schools that include private, Catholic, French Immersion and even a French-language Catholic school.
While becoming a thriving urban centre, Oshawa still has some qualities of a small town. Some neighbourhoods have special themes to them. One neighbourhood has streets that are named after famous authors, another features names from King Arthur’s court.
Oshawa is only going to get better now that the 407 and 412 have been expanded to reach it. If you want to be a part of this growing community, speak to an agent, who will help you in anyway you need.
Fun Fact: While you may not have any special powers that would gain you admittance to Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, you can visit it. Parkwood Estates was featured as the school in X-Men. It can also be seen in other films such as Chicago and Billy Madison.
