What’s Happening This Weekend – Sept 16-18

The cooler weather is making outside bearable, so go outside and enjoy some of the events that our local communities have to offer.

Pioneer Harvest Festival – Head on down to Black Creek Pioneer Village for a fun day for the whole family.  Enjoy the live demonstrations that include quilting, sausage making, candle dipping and much more!  Taste the amazing flavours that only come from something that has been handmade.  Experience the individuality and quality of goods that have been handmade.  So, what are you waiting for?

Durham’s Fall Craft Market – The first annual Durham’s Fall Craft Market is taking place this weekend.  Browse the various items that have been made by locals artists.  There are also lots of activities for the kids, including bouncy castles and even an appearance by Mickey and Minnie Mouse!  This event is also looking to help the community with raffle ticket proceeds helping local charities.  Check out this fun event that gives back.

Batman Day – I saw this event and knew I had to include it.  The Oshawa Library is hosting a Batman Day.  This event is geared to children ages 7-12.  They are encouraged to dress up and have a fun afternoon of all things Batman.  N.B. This event requires registration, click here to be taken to the registration form.

Rio Homecoming – Olympians are coming home!  On Sunday, you can head over to the Markham Pan Am Centre for an afternoon of celebration.  Gather with the Markham Community to congratulate Markham Olympians: Rose LaBrèche from Canada’s Rugby Team; fencer, Maxime Brinck-Croteau; and track star, Andre De Grasse!

Terry Fox Run – Join with all of Canada in the Marathon of Hope.  36 years ago, Terry Fox began his journey across Canada to raise money and awareness for cancer.  Fox was not able to reach his final destination but Canada has taken up the cause.  Every community is doing something for this weekend, so see how you can get involved to help.  Together, we will continue moving towards a world without cancer, one step at a time.
