    What’s Happening This Weekend – Aug 12-14

As always, there is lots going on in the GTA this weekend.  Here is a look at some of the events happening this weekend.

    Friday, August 12

Toronto – The Tragically Hip Concert – This is arguably the most exciting thing happening this weekend.  The Tragically Hip is finishing up it’s farewell tour.  If you were lucky enough to get tickets, enjoy the show.  If not, don’t worry, on August 20, their concert will be broadcast live on CBC.

Whitby – Movies in the Park – Pack up your kids, lawn chairs, and a blanket and head over to Willow Park to watch The Angry Birds movie tonight at 8:15pm.

    Saturday, August 13

Oshawa –Bikes on Bond – If you’re a fan of motorcycle, you might want to head to Bond Street for Bikes on Bond for an afternoon of live music, bikes and food.

Toronto – YouTube Fan Fest – Toronto is about to be overtaken by teens and pre-teens as they flock downtown to meet their favourite YouTube stars.  Visit their website for information on who will be there and tickets.  The line-up includes: Bethany Mota, who competed on a season of Dancing with the Stars; Superwoman; Ruth B, whose single Lost Boy is a standard on the radio, Mike Tompkins; and many others.  Personally, I would like to meet Mike Tompkins, a Canadian sensation from London, Ontario, who wowed the internet by performing songs, where every sound heard is made by him.  Check him out.

    Saturday, August 13-Sunday, August 14

Toronto – Pan American Food Festival – I had to include a food-related event.  Head to Yonge-Dundas Square for what promises to be a delicious time.  This festival includes cooking demonstrations and various food competitions.  You do not want to miss this.
